Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt) Delphine D. Crumpton:
CMSgt Crumpton was born in Shreveport, Louisiana where she graduated from Fair Park High School in May 1985. She attended Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas and received a Bachelor Degree in Psychology in 2012 and a Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management in 2014.
On June 16, 1986, CMSgt Crumpton enlisted in the United States Air Force as an administrative specialist. After she completed Basic Training and Technical School in September 1986, she was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. While at Barksdale, she was assigned to the 2nd Avionics Maintenance Squadron as an administrative specialist. She then moved to the 2nd Operational Maintenance Squadron where her Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) was converted to personnel. In January 1990, she received orders to the 7th Mission Support Squadron, Dyess AFB, Texas where she held the positions of Orderly Room Manager, Assistant Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) Separations and Retirements, and Assistance NCOIC Customer Service. On June 30, 1995, she separated after serving 9 years and 15 days of active duty.
In July 1995, CMSgt Crumpton enlisted in the 189th Airlift Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard as a Personnel Specialist. In February 1996 she was selected for a full-time position in the Career Enhancement section. She served in numerous duty positions throughout her career including Personnel Relocations, Personnel Readiness, Assistant Base Education and Training Manager, Personnel Employment, and Personnel Systems Manager where she was promoted to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. In February 2007, CMSgt Crumpton was selected as the Superintendent of Personnel for the 189th Mission Support Flight and promoted to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. She was the First African American Female promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in the history of the 189th Airlift Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard.
Her military professional courses include the Air National Guard Chief Orientation Course, USAF Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy, USAF Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School, Noncommissioned Officer Preparatory Course, Personnel Craftsman Course, Education and Training Apprentice Course, Personnel Systems Data Management Course, SORTS Data Handler Training Course, Train the Trainer Course, and the MANPER-B Systems Training Course.
During her exceptional military career, CMSgt Crumpton earned awards, medals, and decorations to include the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 device, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 device, Air Force Achievement Medal with 3 devices, National Defense Service Medal with 1device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and Arkansas Distinguished Service Medal.
Other awards and recognitions earned by CMSgt Crumpton include the 189th Mission Support Flight Top Performer (1999), 189th Support Group Outstanding Non-commissioned Officer of the Year (1999), 189th Airlift Wing Non-commissioned Officer of the Year (1999), 189th Airlift Wing Outstanding Graduate of the Year (2000), 189th Airlift Wing Outstanding Service Award (2003) and Arkansas Air National Guard Enlisted Person of the Year (2004).
Her professional memberships and affiliations include the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of United States, Noncommissioned Officer Graduates Association, Residence Professional Military Education Coordinator (Secretary), President and Coordinator for the 1st Annual Senior Non-commissioned Officer Induction Ceremony, and she served as the 189th Airlift Wing Chief Council’s Vice President and President.
CMSgt Crumpton currently works for the Little Rock School District as an Air Force Junior ROTC Aerospace Instructor at the Historic Little Rock Central High School. In July 2011, she retired from the Arkansas Air National Guard after serving 25 years and 15 days of outstanding military service. CMSgt Crumpton and her family resides in Redfield, Arkansas.
